For Freedom Project Staff, Board and Volunteers Nonviolent Communication (NVC) guides us to re-frame how we communicate with each other, helps us identify what is alive inside and find ways to express that. It allows us to work through conflict peacefully with integrity, and improve how we express ourselves. But as amazing as NVC is at strengthening connections with self, friends, loved ones and community, the benefits haven’t been accessible to all communities. Marching to elevate the lived experience of Black FathersSaturday’s march will elevate the lived experiences of black fathers and shed light on the criminal legal system’s impact on fatherhood. We will hear from fathers who have parented while incarcerated, young people who have grown up with incarcerated fathers and fathers whose children have been victims of police violence.
