Lucy Leu on Marshall Rosenberg’s Memorial
Dear Northwest Friends, and Giraffes and Jackals everywhere,
I hope these words find you at ease and savoring the gifts of life. I just received a message asking me to let our community know that a celebration of Marshall’s life will be held on March 29th, beginning at 4:00 p.m. (Mountain Time). This event, open to the public, will take place at the the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico. There will be seating for 600 people and it will be streamed live. The stream can be accessed at this link.
I am sharing with you three moments from Marshall’s visit in our PSNCC community, and three images taken in Albuquerque at his home during more recent years. Over the last month, I have also been, every morning and every night, listening to him sing “There is a place….” (with lyrics rendered in French through the voice of my friend Anne Bourrit).
Below, Marshall and Valentina hanging out on their patio. Valentina keeps the hummingbird feeders filled with deliciousness and the birds often hover over the spot where Marshall sits. Occasionally a roadrunner peeks over, then scurries across the yard in its comical fashion. A few feet away, in a part of the garden filled with pebbles, Marshall would hunt with great concentration, loading his pocket with stones and other natural objects shaped like hearts to present to Valentina (who would lay them out carefully in a special corner of the patio.)
May his words still speak into our hearts, and may they flow from us into the world and the lives of future generations.
With gratitude for the memories, gifts, and friendships we share,
