I’m Afraid

by  Brandon Sutton
I’m afraid I won’t be seen
When I hear you and you and you and you labeling
When I see what you saw
And don’t see that particular flaw
It becomes clear to me how judgments can be an attack
And though you’re not looking at me right now
For that I feel relief somehow
For that I stay by your side
Disconnected and trying to hide from your labels
Can’t you see, the stories you tell are all fables
And it’s only a matter of time
Until I’m on the other side of that line
Watching you snicker at me
So I’m afraid and this is my clue
When I hear you and you and you and you.
